Tortoise vs. Cat

May 14th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Here’s another in a long line of videos where I’m unsure what I’m seeing. The person who posted this at YouTube wrote, “A tortoise in our garden defends it’s territory against invading cats.”

Is the tortoise playing? Is it angry? (I lean toward the latter.) Are the cats hurting it when they respond? It doesn’t look like it, but I could be wrong. As a bonus, here’s a rather long clip of a tortoise eating a tomato.

It’s a trend. Tortoises seem to like to play or attack, can’t tell which but it’s funny.

Oh come on. You can’t be serious. Tortoises don’t “play.” Of course it is doing precisely what the clip maker says it’s doing — attacking an intruder on its territory.
